Have you ever found yourself not opening a bill because you didn’t want to see it?
Or maybe setting up a minimum card payment because you didn’t have to log on to check the balance?
Or perhaps you check a card on an app on your phone, then get freaked out, close the app and put the phone in a drawer to move its bad vibes away from you? LOL!
Now the last one may be an exaggeration, but I think we all know the feeling!
When we avoid the truth about our debt, the price is your peace of mind. It is a price that grows every day costing you more and more peace.
Let’s face it–the longer you wait, the more it grows in your mind, not to mention the interest!
And I get it, the financial environment right now is not amazing.
Gas prices are high.
A box of cereal costs $6.
Taking a small family through a drive-thru will easily cost $50!
Just as the price of everything has risen, including interest rates (!), it seems like your money won’t go nearly as far as it used to, just a few years ago!
So if you are feeling a bit discouraged, I fully understand, but we can’t stop here.
We aren’t made to be powerless in our own lives.
I say this all the time, but I need you to know this→
What *I* know from working with so many people on their finances that we don’t have to be debt-free to feel peace with money.
We just need to be moving towards our goal.
It is just like losing weight.
You don’t have to be at your ideal weight to start feeling more confidence, the scale just needs to be moving in the right direction.
That movement allows peace and relief back into your life.
Sure, we will make mistakes and will face set-backs, but the peace of mind comes from facing our situation honestly.
As Tony Robbins says, “See it as it is, but not worse than it is.”
So let’s face the truth about the situation right now.
How many debts do you have? Let’s make a list.
What are the interest rates for those debts?
How can we move forward in a way that addresses debt and allows us to have a little breathing room?
How quickly could we pull together an Emergency Fund so that we don’t have to rely on debt if an unexpected expense arises?
Can’t you just feel the relief as you read through those steps?!
After seeing so many people transition from a place of avoidance and pain to hopefulness and pride, I want to encourage you today. You and your family CAN do this! It has been done by others, and it can be done by YOU!
