Quarter 1 of 2019 is in the books! How are you doing with your 2019 goals? I’ve become very goal-oriented in the last few years. My goals tend to be big, but attainable. However, if I look at the big goal for too long I get so discouraged at times. So a couple of years ago I started breaking my goals down. Now I break them down into quarters.
This year we made a pretty lofty financial goal. When I saw that big number I panicked a little. Then I broke it down into quarters and it wasn’t nearly as intimidating. Did we make our goal this quarter? Nope! Am I frustrated and ready to quit? Nope! Why? Because I know if we keep plugging away at our goal we will reach it. Will we reach our goal by the end of the year? Maybe. Maybe not. Would we reach this goal if we didn’t work toward it? Nope!
How does this relate to financial coaching? My clients are always overwhelmed with the amount of debt they have. How do we overcome that feeling of being overwhelmed? We break it down! We use a written monthly budget and written goals. My clients are relieved when they see how much progress they can make with a plan and a little guidance.
So, back to my question. How are you doing with your 2019 goals? Let me know if you need help.
