Auto Draft vs. Online Bill Payment

When I start working with my 1:1 clients I often discover that all of their bills are set on auto-draft.  Confession:  I hate auto draft for paying bills!  Why?  My reasons are numerous but here are a few:

💥 I don’t like anyone having access to my bank account.

💥 The due dates and my budgeting for that bill may not align.

💥 Sometimes customers are double charged.  Duplicate charges are often not reversed.  Credits to your account are issued instead!  This is really hard if you need that money.

💥 Rate increases often go unnoticed (not paying attention to your finances because it’s all auto-drafted).

💥 I don’t like anyone having access to my bank account (mentioned twice on purpose)!

Do you know what I love for paying bills?  Online bill payment through my bank!  Here’s why I love it:

💥I am in control as to when my bills get paid.

💥I’m not giving anyone else access to my bank accounts.

💥I can schedule when my bills are paid (later in the month or recurring monthly payments).

💥I only have to remember 1 login.  I use to login to each account online and pay.

💥If something comes up and I need to pay on a different date I can revise a scheduled payment for a later date.

💥No duplicate charges.

💥I notice if rates/bills increases.

I hope I’ve given you something to think about!  How do you pay your bills?
