When is it too late?

American novelist Nancy Thayer says, “It’s never too late – in fiction or in life – to revise.”

As your financial coach, I endorse this 100%!

It is truly never too late to start working on your finances to improve your situation. Year after year, I work with people who never thought they would be able to have peace and security financially.  And yet, after months of doing the work, they start to become financially secure and don’t even recognize who they have become with money!

Such is the case with a couple I have worked with since 2019. Michael and Lisa are in their 50s, without children, and prior to working with me had used a portion of their retirement to pay off debt.  While that particular strategy is not one that I advise, they were ready to get control of their money once and for all!

When we began working together, they had a great income, but they weren’t quite sure where it was going.

My top priority was to create a spending plan, then to have the couple track their expenses.

The first month of tracking expenses was eye-opening for Michael and Lisa, as it is for most new clients! They are surprised by how much they are spending in certain categories. Just seeing this pattern, they were able to reduce these expenses, so that they could cut back to save more and pay down debt.

Then COVID hit in the spring of 2020, and they decided to pause all debt-payoff and focus entirely on savings because they were concerned Lisa might lose her job. Several months passed, and Lisa did lose her job, and was out of work for several months.

At the same time, Lisa’s mom was diagnosed with Pancreatic Cancer.  Because they understood their spending and their expenses, Lisa was able to remain out of a job and support her mom when she needed it the most. Best of all–they had planned ahead, so this financial dip wasn’t stressful for their family.

Eventually, Lisa did go back to work.  At the same time, they ended up saving thousands of dollars during the pandemic, and actually became Debt-Free, except for their mortgage.

Now they are paying cash for home repair projects that had been put on hold for years because they could not afford to complete them.  They are also beginning to plan and save for their retirement again, specifically their life insurance, long-term care insurance, and investing in retirement plans.

We still meet monthly because they like the accountability, and they like to discuss anything new that has come up in their finances.  Every time I meet with them they go on and on about how much financial coaching has helped them.

They were totally stressed out about money before we began working together. Then one year later, they were dealing with a job loss and a sick parent, and were able to handle both of those situations in peace because they had planned ahead.

You have your own story.
You know exactly why things are hard with money.
And if the time is right for you, I would love to guide your family to the same type of peace that Michael and Lisa found through financial planning.

Connect with me on social media and let’s set up a quick call. Imagine how financial security and peace could feel for your family. Again, it’s never too late!

To your success,
